Microsoft Excel - Macro for AS/400 Negative Numbers

Use this macro to convert an AS/400 negative number to a PC negative number.  This macro is critical to the utilization of downloaded AS/400 spool files or screen copies into an Excel spreadsheet.  In the AS/400, negative numbers appear with the sign to the right of the number, i.e., 10-.  To Excel, this is a text string that cannot be used in a calculation.  This macro converts the text to a recognizable PC negative number, i.e., -10.

To use the macro, after installation, highlight a cell or range within the spreadsheet.  Press Alt-F8 to open the macro and select Run.  Any character/numeric field with a minus sign on the right (10-) will be converted to a PC Negative number with the minus sign on the left (-10).

MS-Office 2003 Format: 2003-NegNumbers.ZIP (8 kb)

2003 Installation:  Place this macro in your PERSONAL.XLS file in the XLSTART folder for common access to all of your Excel spreadsheets.

MS-Office 2007 Format: 2007-NegNumbers.ZIP (14 kb)

2007 Installation:  Place this macro in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART folder for common access to all of your Excel spreadsheets.

Folders and Files Listing

This utility allows you to browse and select a starting folder, and then it will extract a list of all files within the selected folder plus all sub-folders and their files.  The list of folders and files appears in an interactive grid for sorting and filtering.  An option is also provided to export the list to EXCEL.

Navigate to the installation page and click on install to begin the process.  An icon will be placed in your Start-Up programs folder.  You must have NetFramework3.5 and Windows installer 3.1 already on your system.  If they are not, you will be prompted to install them first.
